Discover and experience Bad Freienwalde

The popular and traditional Bad Freienwalde travel journal has been published just in time for the start of spring. On 68 pages, it provides comprehensive information about Bad Freienwalde, which Theodor Fontane described as a "pretty word for pretty place".

"I think there is hardly a better way to describe the spa town," says Ilka Krüger, Managing Director of the publishing company Bad Freienwalde Tourismus GmbH, "Bad Freienwalde is not only 'pretty', but also the oldest spa town in the Mark Brandenburg. The area surrounding the town is also a wonderful hiking area - ideal for catching your breath, feeling the peace and quiet and enjoying beautiful views."

The first part of the travel journal contains interesting stories about the history of Bad Freienwalde, including the electoral bathing tradition, which is closely linked to the moor mined in the Falkenberg district of Amalienhof. To this day, the "black gold" is used in various ways in the town's spa facilities. There is also information on the numerous hiking opportunities in Bad Freienwalde and the surrounding area. In addition to the mountain hiking park and the Gipfelstürmer trail, the town's four towers are described in detail, the ascent of which is rewarded with the unique tower diploma. The 38-metre-high ski jump tower, which is part of Germany's northernmost ski jumping facility, is one of the towers to be climbed. A new hiking recommendation is the Evolution Trail between Sonnenburger Straße near Spielbau and the observation tower on Galgenberg, which was inaugurated last year. With every step that hikers take along the one-kilometre trail, they also take a journey through time through the development of life on earth - from the first traces 4100 million years ago to modern times.

Those who want to literally experience the region can do so in a relaxed manner by bike, for example on the 44-kilometre "Fontane's Moment" cycle tour, which leads around Bad Freienwalde. Another good alternative is the Oderbus, which commutes between Bad Freienwalde and Wriezen every Saturday and stops at several places of tourist interest. The Oderbus starts its season on March 30.

This time, the "Stories from here" section of the travel journal focuses on Neuenhagen Castle, the Oderglück Café on the Neurüdnitz-Siekierki Europe Bridge and the Altglietzen ring kiln. And last but not least, there is also a look beyond the outskirts of the city to Wriezen, Eberswalde, the Oderbruch, the Niederfinow ship lift and the neighboring Polish countryside. By the way, all explanations are also printed in short form in a Polish and English version!

The service section of the travel journal begins on page 46. Here you will find information and contact details on accommodation options, arrangements at the tourist information office, the specialist clinic, the spa center, gastronomic offers as well as cultural and leisure facilities and various events. There are QR codes for all the information, which lead to further explanations.

The travel journal was printed in a climate-neutral way.
