The Messe und Veranstaltungs GmbH, the SMOK, the city of Frankfurt (Oder) and the city of Słubice have presented at a press conference together with partners and supporters the cultural summer in the twin city and the highlights of the 18th HanseStadtFest "Colorful Herring-Kolorowy Śledzik"

For the second time Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice jointly organize the summer of culture in the twin city. Rich in events in various formats, such as concert, family festival, performances, open-air cinema, the twin city offers from June 30 to September 2 every weekend cultural entertainment in familiar and new to discover places of the Oder cities.

So emphasized the two mayors, René Wilke and Mariusz Olejniczak: "We are proud of the rich cultural program, with which we sweeten this summer for our double city residents:inside and their guests. Here is something for every taste."

Soon at the beginning of the cultural summer, the city bridge becomes the stage of the joint opening event. Artists from Frankfurt and Słubice will transform on June 30 at 6:00 p.m. the bridge, which is closed to vehicular traffic, to the Art Bridge and thus express the diversity and vibrancy of cultural life in the twin city. Subsequently, at about 7:00 p.m. the Run without borders even runs twice over the bridge.
On the same day at 8:00 p.m. begins at the Słubice stadium the stage program of the HanseStadtFest with the German newcomer "Loi". The city festival in the Polish part of the twin city will then take place over the two days (June 30 to July 1) with many well-known Polish artists (including Maryla Rodowicz and Grubson) and a colorful family program.

From Sunday, July 2, the public can enjoy four days of summer outdoor cinema at Plac Bohaterow in Słubice.

The "Colorful Herring" on the Frankfurt side then begins on July 6 at 10:00 p.m. with the traditional evening concert of the Singakademie "Windows in the Light" in the Marienkirche. On Friday, colorful hustle and bustle of the largest German-Polish folk festival in East Brandenburg reaches the entire city center. On four stages three days long a German-Polish music program of every genre is played. From Schlager to jazz, from pop to classical, from rock to electronic and street music. On Friday, the headliners of this year's HanseStadtFest in Frankfurt are strong female voices - Sara James and MIA as well as pop legends - Sebastian Karpiel Bułecka with ZAKOPOWER and Thomas Anders with hits by Modern Talking.
Away from the big stage, the BLOK O Arena & Beach with electro sounds by Pure FM under the city bridge, a folk-rock area on the northern Holzmarkt, the children's and youth area "Frankfurter Spaß Island" next to the Uni Mensa and a new open street format on Frankfurt's Magistrale are planned.
The Frankfurt "Bunte Hering" is getting a visual relaunch with a new symbolic figure, designed - like the old mascot 20 years ago - by the Frankfurt advertising agency Giraffe.

After these two weekends of city birthday parties, the DJ festival NOVUM will take place on July 15 in the park behind the bazaar in Słubice, and the German-Polish hip-hop event No Borders will be held on July 22 at Plac Bohaterow.

From July 30, classical music will resound in the parks of the twin city on each of six weekends. A total of 10 concerts with artists from many European countries (including Germany, Poland, Denmark, France, Latvia and Lithuania) are planned at the Summer Open Air Festival "Classics without Borders". The festival ends with a grand symphonic final concert on the Frankfurt Anger on September 2. Admission is free for these concerts.
