As part of its networking activities, the regional management will focus intensively on the topic of sustainable industrial estates – new developments and existing areas. The kick-off event on June 15, 2022, revealed a great deal of interest on the part of municipalities, districts and economic development agencies in sustainable industrial estate development. The framework was provided by input presentations on the classification of three pillars of social, economic and ecological sustainability in relation to commercial areas. A report on the BBSR research project "Sustainable further development of industrial estates" showed how, among other things, climate and energy issues can be dealt with, employee concerns can be addressed and urban planning instruments can be used for a sustainable design.
