In a warm-hearted and witty theatrical version, "Der kleine Muck" tells the story of an outsider's search for happiness and the realization that true friendship is more important in life than money and fame on 20 January at 3 p.m. at the Kleist Forum. The production, based on the story by Wilhelm Hauff, continues the series of German-Polish theatrical fairy tales that has a long tradition at the Uckermärkische Bühnen Schwedt. The play will also be shown on January 19 as a morning performance for school classes and daycare groups.

Rukhsana, a human-sized cicada, befriends little Muck, who is mocked by everyone because of his size. Together they decide to set off into the world in search of the merchant who sells happiness. On their way through the desert, they pass Mrs. Ahavzi, who forces Muck into her service. He has to look after her sneaky cats, but she withholds his wages. When Rukhsana persuades him to flee, Muck discovers two magical things among Mrs. Ahavzi's things: slippers that take their wearer to any desired place in no time at all, and a little stick that finds treasures. Thus equipped, Muck sets off for the Sultan's palace to become his chief slipper runner...
